Therapy Services

I believe that each individual is unique and has his or her own way of addressing resolutions. Thus, I believe in a wellness model that helps my clients empower themselves by focusing on what works for them and not in a systematic approach that provides a generic procedure on working on a treatment. One's journey is not the same as the other.

Counselling is a confidential process designed to help you address your concerns, come to a greater understanding of yourself, and learn effective personal and interpersonal coping strategies. It involves a relationship between you and a therapist who has the desire and willingness to help you accomplish your individual goals. Your participation in the Counselling process requires you to share sensitive, personal, and private information that may, at times be distressing. The outcome of counselling is often positive; however, the level of satisfaction for any individual is not predictable. Your therapist is available to support you throughout the counselling process.

What types of things do people come to counselling for?

Marriage & Relationship Counselling

Sinéad helps couples deal with their relationship problems and provides counselling to resolve the issues.

Couples Therapy focuses on providing talk therapy in conjunction with the following:

  • Mental health. A relationships therapist may help a couple where one person is experiencing mental distress and how as a couple they can best manage.

  • Help solve communication problems. Often, relationships break apart not because of any malicious issue, but because both parties don't know how to communicate properly. Sinead will help couples learn the tools and strategies behind effective, compassionate communication.

  • Finances may be covered. This is the king of relationship problems, with many couples breaking apart their marriage due to financial dishonesty or spending too much.

  • Issues with trust.

Substance Abuse

Admitting you have a problem is the first step towards stopping it. Many people go to a substance abuse therapist so they can figure out where to go from there. Substance abuse can lead to many problems, such as ruining a family, eating disorders that can lead to dangerous weight loss and even death, depression, anxiety, and other mental problems. If you or a loved one is battling with substance abuse, talk to a therapist today.

Grief & Loss

One of the many mental health services a therapist can offer is dealing with grief and loss. Sinéad can help you cope with losing your friends and family, be it an untimely death or a family member with a long battle with cancer or another fatal illness. You can learn more about the grieving process, including the realisation that it's not so black and white, and you can learn not to "get over" the loss of your friend or family member, but learn how to continue without them.

LGBTQIA+ Counselling

Individuals in the LGBTQ community suffer from mental health issues at a disproportionately high rate. Whether you are struggling with mental health issues, your identity, or just need someone to talk to, Sinead believes help should be accessible to everyone.
